So... who is Mokinzi?

...nice question.

:iconenglishrobinplz:

Mokinzi is a girl. She is 21 (and starting to feel old). She has held the pencil wrong ever since she was a little girl and will probably always do.

Mokinzi likes strange things. She is a big fan of weird vintage toys; things that sparkle; furry, purple things; Johnny Depp; cosmic clouds of dust and gas called nebulae; pretty dolls; frogs; the monsters of Sesame Street; cookies; Squidward Tentacles; carousel horses; David Bowie; cartoons from the 80s and cereal commercials.

Mokinzi is currently studying economics and business administration at Norway's oldest business school, something which she strangely enough finds quite enjoyable.

I just come home from a looong day at school (and the last!) to discover that I received my fifth Daily Devation yesterday! The artwork in question is "Prince on the Run", which was inspired by Watership Down.

Secondly, I would like to tell you that I am saying goodbye to Japan and returning to Norway in a couple of weeks. You who have followed me on Tumblr, Instagram or Facebook know that I have made quite a few drawings during my stay here, and they will be ready for scanning and colouring and finishing when I come back. That means you will soon get to see some new artwork from me here at deviantArt as well! I didn't focus on Watership Down like I planned to do, but many interesting creatures have been popping up in my sketchbooks.

Also, I recently got to visit the Ghibli museum! All I can say is that it was amazing. I left the museum feeling super inspired an motivated to work on my own stories.

Online shop decisions... by Mokinzi
Online shop decisions...
Hey guys, this is not exactly artwork, and I will remove it later, but for now I could really use your advice.

When I come back to Norway I want to open an online shop to sell original artwork, prints, products etc. My only problem is that there are quite a few platforms to choose from. I’d like to hear if you have any recommendations? I am skeptical about Etsy company-wise, but that is also the only platform I am familiar with when it comes to this. I love the design and layout of Big Cartel, but have never used it.

So please, if you have any tips, experiences or wishes considering which platform I should choose, shout out!

Ok, so tomorrow I'm leaving for my exchange in Tokyo! I'll be there for four months. During that time, I'll probably not post much art here. I will still draw, however, and I'll probably share snapshots of my drawings on Tumblr and Instagram. I am bringing a little project with me, namely the book Watership Down which I will try to make some personal illustrations for. We'll see how that turns out.

Other than that, I have published some new prints and products both on Society6 and here on deviantArt. Please take a look! It would be really motivating if I could earn at least something from all this.

Anyhow, I'll have to go finish my packing. Have a lovely day! :sun:

Commission for Heidi by Mokinzi
Commission for Heidi
Commission for the amazing :iconrikercreatures: who wanted me to draw her with one of her wonderful handmade creatures. This one's name is Aerie. I am aware that some details on her tail are lacking - I didn't notice them on the reference picture I got, and didn't see it until I was well into the colouring process. I hope it's ok.

The piece was drawn traditionally with pen on paper, then coloured digitally (I am always afraid I'll ruin the original drawing).

I really hope you like it, Heidi! I at least had a great time working on this. :rose:

I am in awe of your work, I love he style, the echoes of voices from past myth and legend and a whimsical sense of humour. I'm fighting the temptation to add all of your deviants to my favourites.

Thank you so much. It means a lot! I can promise there will come a lot of new artwork here soon - my dA has been kind of dead the last four months since I have been away on exchange. I have lots of material to work on when I return in August!

You know, I just visited the Ghibli museum in Tokyo! It was fantastic. It would have been amazng working for them - doubt that it's possible though. But movies like Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle and Princess Mononoke really speak to me.

Just 20 and starting to feel old? :D I double your age, and I really do it! But only sometimes...
Now seriously, I do love your style. Can't make up my mind and choose a single fave, so I'll have to watch you, and take a little more time to decide... ;)
You are such a talented artist, specially for an "amateur" (I mean, someone who doesn't make a livin' of it) Keep on this way, please.

Haha, I don't feel that old... But growing up is scary as hell!

Thank you so much! More art will come here soon. My dA account has been dead the last four months since I've been on exchange to Japan, but I have a lot of material ready for work when I come back - which is soon!

Yeah, I don't have in mind trying to make a career out of this anytime soon. It's such a hard world out there for artists... so I'm studying business and economics instead :D

Art for art's sake... that's nice of you. Just hope all those economics didn't taint your talent ;)

About growing up... you know true age is in our mind. If you keep drawing and painting like this, you'll be young for a long, long time... Life is tricky, isn't it? When we are very young, we want to grow up, and when we do it, we want to get back... Well, never miss what you haven't done, but enjoy what you do.

Hilsener!

Haha, I like economics though. Guess it's valuable too if I decide to make a career out of my art - I won't need anyone to explain to me about marketing, business and economics :)

It's all the responsiblities that bother me... but I guess I also have more freedom. I'm old enough to travel the world by myself, which is great.

Salutaciones!
