My part of an art-trade with the awesome This is her elf character Jalir from the novel she's working on. I am so glad she chose him for me to draw, he's an awesome character. It turned out to be a portrait, yes. I must start doing much more other stuff... Hmm... I guess he didn't turn out as ragged and shabby as you wanted him, Mie, but well, hope you like him!
Making this piece was very fun, I learned a lot about painting clothes and folds, and I had lots of fun with textures. All textures used are my own.
From scratch in Photoshop. Artwork (c) Character (c) (now go check her out if you haven't)
Some very nice thingss... but first the wrong things Be carefull with textures, it can flatten your image, in this case, it did. You could add some more highlights at some specific places. And finally his ear doesnt seems to be at the right place. Weelll except these, I really love the way he's looking, his face and especialy his lips are very very well done. Nice colors, but try to varie as much as you can for the moment experiment a lot ! Keep it up ! You're doing sooo good !
Yeah, I can see what you mean with the textures... I'll just have to keep experiment with them, I guess ^^ And yeah, I'm always afraid of over-highlighting, soo... I need to experiment with that too! Haha, I know about the ears, I noticed it right after posting yesterday, hehe. I think I'm too lazy to do anyhing about it now. I think. But maybe I'll try to do it And thank you!!! Yes, lots and lots of more experimenting. That seems to me like the best way of learning^^
Well, well, well... I just gotta say - THANKS A LOT, Vilde *instant fave*
He looks really good (okay, he IS more shabby, but who cares? xD), and I just love the way his face turned out, especially his eyes^^ Very lovely, just keep it up :3

Thank you!!! I'm just so glad you like this, you know, I dreamt about this tonight, that you yelled at me so much for this piece; you totally hated it. Ehm, yeah, I've got weird dreams^^ About the shabbyness, maybe he has dressed up and washed his face and brushed his hair... for you? He wants to look good for his deeply respected creator? Hehe, ok, thanks again
